Unique Opportunity for Young Designers to be Part of Growth of Indian Handicraft Industry (India’s Rich Heritage)
Ø India’s first Design Mentorship Activation Programme (DMAP) launched by Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India Ø Creation of new set of design skills in the handicrafts sector. Ø Opportunity to younger designers to get industry oriented design training Ø 6 Months intense on job training to young designers with handicraft exporters / clusters
With an objective to prepare Indian Handicraft Sector design oriented & innovative in international & national niche markets, an ambitious project has been envisaged and being implemented by National Centre for Design & Product Development (NCDPD) to provide industry oriented design training to the final year students or just passed out design graduates from leading design Institutions. The entire training shall be under supervision & guidance of International / National designers and linkages with trade, industry and clusters.
IDENTIFIED MAJOR CRAFTS : Art Metalware, Wooden Handicrafts / Furniture, Imitation Jewellery, Home Textiles / Home Furnishings and Christmas Decorations / Glass / Ceramics
IDENTIFIED CLUSTERS : Moradabad, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Saharanpur, Chennai, Bangalore, Narsapur, Firozabad, Delhi & NCR, Kolkata and Khurja
